Is it illegal to commit suicide? This is one question that has gained a lot of attention in recent times. Since a person’s life is considered a moral issue in most societies, suicide is treated with a lot of reserve. In many cases, the people who condemn a suicidal act do so out of concern for the lives of that individual or family. But what exactly is the law regarding suicide?

Suicide is an act in some sections of the globe: But while suicide is legally legalized in many western nations, the act is still frowned upon and stigmatized. In some areas of Asia and other continents like Africa, suicide is not really condemned. This is because there are no written laws regarding this act. Therefore, it is left to the conscience of individuals to decide whether or not they can go ahead with committing suicide.

If a person decides that he/she wants to end his/her life through suicide: he/she must abide by the law. If found guilty, the person can be punishable by imprisonment or capital punishment. The laws regarding suicide are very specific and strict. According to these laws, suicide is not allowed unless it is performed under the strictest of conditions.

The first condition is that the person cannot be mentally ill: Mental illness is taken into account when determining whether or not a person can legally commit suicide. In addition to being mentally ill, a person must also be in mental pain. This means that the person suffering from the pain and agony must have tried out all other possible solutions to the problem, cannot rely on medication for any prolonged period and has no will to live.

The next condition is that the person cannot take any undue advantage of another’s suffering. This means that if a person tries to escape from the grave and kill another person because of a difference of opinion, he/she could be charged with murder. This is considered to be an improper act and illegal under the law. If you feel that you can no longer handle your problems and have reached the point where you wish to commit suicide, then it is best if you contact the proper legal authorities.

In most cases, if you have crossed the limits set by suicide: it is always better if you contacted the proper authority instead of trying to solve the problem yourself. This way, you can be assured that if you do decide to commit suicide, you are legally entitled to do so. Finally, it is important to note that suicide is not condoned by any religion or government. Therefore, if you have reached the age of responsible adulthood, you should make sure that you have considered all other options and have finally decided to take your own life.

It is not good to think that it is illegal to commit suicide, as there might be situations where it is the only option left.
